Easy Health and Fitness Tips for the Christmas Holiday

Our fitness routine and healthy ways can take a brutal hit during the holiday season. It’s when the “but it’s December” mentality hits where we just drop our habits and let go for the holidays. After all, it’s a time for enjoyment and merriment, right? However, that’s no excuse to skip the routine that we have picked up in order to stay fit and healthy. What you’ll get is a holiday weight.

Think about how most of your hard work is gone out the window. You might be hesitating because everyone else is having a good time and indulging themselves. But what you have to remember is that you don’t have to stick to such a rigorous schedule (if you follow an intense workout schedule). What’s important is to have balance and control. Here are some health and fitness tips that you can easily do for the holidays.

Health and Fitness Tips: How to have a Healthy Holiday Season

Moderation in everything

Moderation can help you prevent unwanted weight gain this holiday. Whether there’s a big helping of your favorite dish or dessert, it’s important to keep your eating habits balanced. The same thing goes for drinking. Regulating your eating and drinking can help you avoid from consuming extra calories.

Use the 60-40 method

It’s all right to indulge a little bit overindulging is a BIG NO. So how can you avoid overindulging? Simply put into practice what I call as the 60-40 method. When you want to treat yourself to some tasty treats, you can compensate by eating a healthier food, such as a salad. In other words, eat more of the healthier options than the unhealthy ones.

Improvise, adapt, overcome

Our schedule can tend to become packed with the holidays. There’s the office parties, get-togethers with friends, family reunions, and more. When you’re going out frequently, you hardly have the time to exercise. However, even a few minutes of exercise can get your metabolism going. There are plenty of workout routines that you can do for only a few minutes (5-20 minutes of workout).

Be choosy

If you’re someone who always accept a social invite, learn how to say no sometimes. Prioritize the most important ones and be selective to the other social invites you get. Matt Fish, a personal trainer at Anytime Fitness, shared at Elle that every yes to an invite increases the consumption of unhealthy food and alcohol.

Eat less but more frequently

You don’t have to worry about limiting too much what you eat this Christmas season and miss some meals. You can eat multiple times by dividing your meals throughout the day. Instead of having 3 meals, you can have 5 small meals. This way, you can still enjoy meals while still avoiding overeating.

With these health and fitness tips for the Christmas holiday, you have the time to enjoy yourself without worrying about gaining holiday weight. But if you need an easier way to stay fit, you can try out our deluxe services. You can book an appointment here.
